Since our inception, human-I-T has believed that fully integrating into the digital economy requires more than just having access to a device. It also requires the ability to get and stay online with high-speed internet, quickly resolve issues with hardware, and, perhaps most importantly, the ability to actually use the technology that’s in front of you!
To tackle that last piece of the puzzle, we started human-I-T Include: a digital literacy training course. Since its launch a little over one year ago, CBOs and partner organizations throughout California have used these trainings to empower people with the skills and know-how they need to succeed in the digital world. Now, with the pilot iteration of this program complete, we’re excited to announce that human-I-T Include will expand across the state!
Completely free to all Californians, this virtual, self-paced course is ideal for pre-beginners who have little to no previous computer experience but who want to discover how computers and the Internet can enrich their lives.
Not only do learners get lifetime access to this course when they sign up, but they’ll also receive lifetime access to a variety of supplemental aids. Each week, learners can access live, virtual office hours on a drop-in basis where they can get their questions answered and get help with the coursework. They’ll also get to view monthly Facebook Lives that explore different topics related to digital literacy, as well as gain access to an exclusive Facebook Group of other digital learners.
But that’s not even the best part.
The first 300 learners with qualifying low-income proof documentation who complete human-I-T Include coursework will be eligible to receive a free desktop!
