Eligibility Requirements

Individuals who wish to receive Member pricing on their purchase and receive an additional discount on the final purchase price of a device from Human-I-T, or who wish to access low-cost internet plans through Human-I-T or the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), must provide proof of low-income.

Any of the following proof of low-income can be submitted upon creating an account with Human-I-T, through text message, or in-person at one of our locations at the time of purchase. Once an individual’s proof has been verified and approved by our team, their account will be updated to a Member account and they will be eligible to receive an additional discount on their purchases from all Human-I-T properties, as well as enroll in low-cost internet service and ACP benefits.

Government Assistance Program Accepted Proof:

  • Federal or tribal notice letter of participation in General Assistance
  • Government retirement or pension
  • Head Start
  • Lifeline
  • Medicaid, e.g. Medi-Cal or Healthy Michigan Plan
  • National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
  • Need-based energy assistance, e.g. California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) or Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP)
  • Need-based financial aid, e.g. Cal Grant or Michigan Tuition Grant
  • Public housing assistance, e.g. Section 8 voucher
  • Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
  • Social Security Retirement (SSR)
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP or EBT)
  • Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • VA benefits for service members

If the household does not receive any government benefits, they may provide proof of their yearly gross income. Households that make 200% of the federal poverty level threshold qualify for donations. Any documentation provided to prove income level must display dollar amounts that can be used to figure Annual Income and must include the number of members in the household on purchase application.

Accepted forms of proof of income include:

  • The prior year’s state, federal, or tribal tax return
  • A Social Security statement of benefits
  • Federal or tribal notice letter of participation in General Assistance
  • A Veteran Administration statement of benefits
  • A retirement/pension statement of benefits / Social Security benefits

Please note:

  • Pay stubs are not accepted
  • SNAP/EBT, Medi-Cal/Medicaid cards alone are not accepted.
    A letter/document that confirms the active benefit is required.
  • The documentation must be dated within the last 6 months and it must be an active benefit.
  • Households will be required to submit eligibility every 15 months.
